COVID-19 Statement

This is an extremely difficult and worrying time for us all and taking into account the government public health advice, the DVSA (Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency) is suspending driving tests for up to three months from 21st March as there is extended contact between candidates and examiner in vehicles. I am closely following guidance provided by the DVSA and will commence lessons when it is safe to do so for both pupils and instructors alike.

Service Update

Short Notice Test Cancellation Changes

From 1st April 2014 the DVSA will introduce a more flexible approach to the way it handles tests cancelled by candidates at short notice. At the moment, candidates automatically lose their fee if they cancel or change their test without giving DVSA 3 clear working days’ notice.

Theory Test Costs Fall from October 2014

The fee for theory tests will fall to £25.00 for tests taken from 1st October 2014. You will have to pay the old fee if you choose a test date before that date which is currently £31.00.

Changes to Theory Test

From 23 January 2012 the theory test will be made up of multiple-choice questions which are no longer published in learning materials. The reason behind the move is to stop candidates from simply memorising theory test questions and answers and learning by rote.

Learner's Warned

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is advising customers to avoid copycat websites and save money by coming to the agency directly. Copycat websites offer to book theory and practical driving tests, and can appear to be the official agency, but charge a premium for their services. Some websites also charge for 'pass protection' with the promise of a free re-test that very few customers would ever qualify to use. Some companies charge up to £30 for just booking a test.

Cancelled or Stopped Tests and Bad Weather

Sometimes the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has to cancel or stop driving tests because of bad weather, vehicle problems or other reasons such as illness or staffing. Your test will usually be automatically rebooked for you at no further cost if it’s cancelled by DSA.

Improved Booking for Practical Driving Tests
